Power Technopathy. Young's power remained dormant until his introduction to Destiny. At first, he was only peripherally aware of it. It was written off as lack of sleep and stress causing a strange headache. Due to the sheer amount of technology aboard the ship in need of repair, his brain had trouble sorting the information. Instead it left a chaotic mess in the back of his brain.
It wasn't until, Trial and Error, that his ability made itself fully known. Destiny already possessed advanced capability in interfacing with the minds of its crew. When it took a special interest in him, his power was kicked into full gear. Events up to that point play out nearly identically to canon until the end of that episode. With his power fully activated, even after turning off the simulation that was slowly driving him insane, the flood gates were open. A constant flow of information from the ship poured in. The sheer amount of 'noise' made it difficult for him to continue in his role as leader until it soon became impossible. His mind began to unconsciously trigger further simulation dreams. Before long he began to be unable to distinguish between reality and simulation.
Generally, his power manifests as a strange intuition regarding machines and other technology. He'll have a feeling when something needs to be repaired because it breaks.
His power manifests differently with each type of technology.
Modern Technology It's strangely second nature. He just needs to touch a computer or other device then he can tell you what's wrong with it. Even if he doesn't even understand what he's saying. This the most agreeable of all technologies, it rarely causes him headaches and is often silent unless broken.
Alien Technology Screeches at him. It's not in a language his brain can understand. He can eventually understand it but it takes a great deal of time and effort. Prolonged exposure to advanced alien technology can drive him insane.
Ancient Technology Instantly interfaces with him whether he wants it to or not. The connection manifests itself in several ways: dreams/nightmares where the technology tries to communicate possible outcomes, hallucinations that actively communicate with him, headache inducing infodumps on various systems, and with some effort he can control minor systems such as doors.
Advanced Technology Depending on the type of advanced technology it often interfaces with him in much the same way as Ancient Technology.
